Swiss EMBALMING THEATRE play straight forward, good produced Grind Death that combines the heavy groove of MORTICIAN or IMPETIGO with the drive and intensity of old school legends like the almighty REPULSION! Although one can debate about the quintet being original or not, it’s a fact that the 20 songs offered on EMBALIMING THEATRE’s first full-length CD after releasing numerous EP’s and compilation tracks since 2000 are aggressive, rousing old school Grindcore songs with speed, catchy structures and excellent deep-growled vocals. Lyrically all songs tell small morbid tales “written” by reality and I really liked the idea of adding newsline-like summaries of each song’s background in the booklet. The rather exotic cover version of the old Swiss Grinders EXULCERATION is another cool idea and the original looking layout deserves to be positively mentioned here as well.
