EMBRIONAL’s debut, "Cusp Of Evil", may quickly be the envy of up and coming Polish bands. Once upon a time, bands such as VADER and BEHEMOTH wrote real riffs rather than triggered their drum kits to keep pace with digitized guitar noodles. EMBRIONAL write music the way their Death Metal forebears once did, and we can only hope that they continue to do so. Inbetween several horror movie-like intros are songs with thankfully modest blast beats (too many bands use the blast beat too often), and riffs with just the right kind of melody to sound both interesting and savage. EMBRIONAL is refreshingly modest as well. They don’t tout how old school they are, and then proceed to waste your time with garbage song material better suited to ARCH ENEMY. No, this band is serious and authentic enough not to get in your face. www.embrional.republika.pl, www.oldtemple.com
