“Death Saturnalia” is the second album from this Slovenian band of furious Death / Black Metal, which has a strong connection with early MORBID ANGEL, a few NIFELHEIM and EMPEROR touches, and to add fire to the mix some early SEPULTURA as well. The final result is a very good album with many memorable riffs, hellish demonic vocals, and they are not afraid to use melody as a main instrument of torture, coming from classic Heavy Metal. The fantastic cover art just adds more to the overall experience. After a few listenings, some layers of the music come to live, showing that there is much more than just one listen can do, making this one of those albums that requires repeated listening to discover its secrets. Oh, and one have to mention the fantastic bass player they have, truly in the Steve Harris school! There’s some very eerie atmospheres that remind me of old occult ’70s Rock bands, but played in their style that fits perfectly. So many riffs, some reminding me of the golden years of demos in the ’90s, but with a more actual approach.
