With Shabatu on bass and vocals and Nox on guitars and electronic drums, we get to see the “Regresiones Dentro De Otros Planos”, the most recent ESPIRITISMO release, from 2021 through Sons Of Hell Prod. With this release the band goes deeper and deeper into their music and thoughts, combining their characteristic vocal style, peculiar lamentations and evil sound (compared to their previous releases), with their feelings, towards a journey of profound lyrics that enunciate the philosophical and intellectual bases supporting the concept of this release. A regression to a plane in which the spirits and beings that dwell in the air, manifest to know the secrets of nature. It is impossible to elaborate a single word when referring to ESPIRITISMO without advising (first), that this is not a band to be listened while washing some dishes. This band requires concentration and respect, a channel in between their lyrics and the willingness to understand what they are talking about. Spiritism is not a simple thing and (on the contrary), it demands preparation and dedication. “Regresiones Dentro De Otros Planos” is a six songs full-length and it’s all in Spanish, preserving their native language, as they are from Buenos Aires, Argentina. They are part of a group of some South American bands that “don’t need” English to transcend borders as their Black Metal is pretty unique and strong enough to be heard accross the globe. Even if you don’t speak Spanish, the atmosphere, evilness and darkness prevail (à la SHUB NIGGURATH). Songs like ‘Regresiones Dentro De Otros Planos’, the opening one, with that piano intro and obscure sensations, ‘El Arte De Balancear Las Fuerzas Invisibles’, a more undulating song with a terrifying music box ending or ‘Fuera De Los Pensamientos Omnipresentes Por Naturaleza’, a song that transits through a more nostalgic but malevolent calm that charms everyting around. That being said, results evident to identify one of the main distinctives of the band, their song titles, which are long, complex and significant.
