EXPANDER
Laws Of Power

The Texan four piece power unit EXPANDER is pretty new on the scene. Formed in 2014, the band already released their first demo recordings this year. “Laws Of Power” was available in a limited edition of 25 tape copies and in an unlimited digital version until Caligari Records saw a certain necessity to re-release the tape again, with 150 copies this time. And Caligari releases usually have something special. This goes for EXPANDER as well, since the Austin based band already developed a unique style. Old school Crossover only poorly describes what this band has up their sleeves, though it is the base of “Laws Of Power”. The Hardcore influence mainly reminds of those old especially British Stenchcore bands of the late 1980s. Add a unhealthy dose of simple not too fast Thrash Metal with no frills and some extra loads of fury and you’ll get a sound that reminds me of Belgium’s forgotten rude boys X-CRETA. And this similarity must be coincidence, because that band was around when the guys in EXPANDER were little kids or not even born. But since this kind of sound with the buzzsaw guitars and the raw vocal delivery still is very unique in these days, EXPANDER sound fresh and wild. In addition, the six rather short eruptions on “Laws Of Power” have that extra kick in the ass. So find out more about them at http://expander.bandcamp.com or www.facebook.com/expanderlives.
