FANATIC ATTACK from Hungary began their journey back in 2009. With the manifesto to practice and preach the sound of frenzied Thrash Metal in the spirit of the classic days, till 2015 they produced two demos, two EPs, a split single and two full lengths. Their debut full length “Waiting To Rot” (2014) sent some shockwave on that time and rightfully established them as one of the most promising Hungarian Thrash Metal bands. They gained that attention with their Speed Thrash Metal, that is not just blatant following up from the Teutonic styles, it rather showed their somewhat simple skills to forge fanatic compositions and “stay true to the underground” essence. Then the follow-up full length comes rather quickly and after that, the Hungarians dig deeper for five more years to forge the third full length “Withstand The Storm”, which was now released in co-operation with their longtime associate Metal Ör Die Records. The record begins with a blood fueling intro that will prepare any listener for the upcoming ‘Darkness Beyond’. It’s raw, punchy and aggressive Thrash from the speakers, right into your face. But also, it immediately shows that their maturity level goes one steps higher, so is their simple yet enticing skills to build attention seeking compositions. Certainly the Hungarians used their time very well before entering the studio to record this third effort. It has that live take feel and the thrilling atmosphere, that we are so used to listen to in the old records from the glory days. Incoming tracks like ‘Stonewall Labyrinth’, ‘When Death Had Ruled The Earth’, ‘Withstand The Storm’ or ‘Fall Of West’, all bear the transitions and atmosphere that always entice for rolling heads and dropping sweat till the end. The gritty vocal throwing, robust bass lines and thumping drums charges that desire twice to return many more times. However, despite the strength of compositions and depth of atmosphere, the production made the overall sound a little generic and dry, which could have been moister to capture the stormy essence and atmosphere, as anyone anticipates that from an album titled “Withstand The Storm”. Beyond that, enthusiastic and lured followers can drop this matter and enjoy this raw and stout effort captured by these Hungarian Thrashers. And fans of ASSASSIN, ANTHRAX, SODOM, EXODUS, DARK ANGEL, TANKARD, RAZOR should explore this and admire the Hungarians for remaining in the path and growing as a force.
