FESSUS
Pilgrims Of Morbidity
(Darkness Shall Rise Productions)
38:56min

Okay, first off what we have here is a compilation of sorts of both the demo and live release from FESSUS from Darkness Shall Rise Productions. So with the business stuff set aside, let’s look into the actual product. Now, I’ve been around a while, I’ve heard a lot and seen much. So I can honestly say when listening to this compilation from FESSUS, who hails from Austria, I was taken aback. Just looking at the overall package, the logo and the sound, I was brought back to those hallowed days of yore. Not to be overly melodramatic, but damn, they do evoke that sound and mood in me. If you are an old school Metalhead, you will know what I’m talking about. If you are a youngling / padawan and seek the knowledge and history of the greats, take a look at FESSUS. Yeah, I can go into details, of the whats and the whys. I can also tell you why I am almost crying in my beer (in a good way) about this release. If you heard stories of the days of early ENTOMBED / NIHILIST and also UNLEASHED, maybe even GROTESQUE and early DARKTHRONE, suffice it to say, just take a look / listen for yourself. Definitely for those who are looking for something a bit more primal, that evokes a mood of a time when things were simpler but no less evocative. Obviously, the above mentioned bands set a standard. Yes, you heard the stories of the time when the greats evolved and created what we know today. I just want to say, I feel FESSUS offers a bit, a window if you may, into that time. Needless to say, I look forward to a full-length / EP from them. All I have to say guys… keep it simple, keep it grimy and keep it old school. https://fessus.bandcamp.com, www.facebook.com/darknessshallriseproductions
