2003 is going to be an excellent Death Metal year and “Murder Without End”, US Brutal Deathers FLESHGRIND’s third full-length CD is no exception. Although I’m not too fond of this rather modern style I have to admit that the Chicago-based quartet did a damn good job on this one and came up with a diversified, elaborated and completely convincing release. The production executed by Chris Djuric is first class, the songs are as driving fast and gutting brutal as always and can easily stand in concurrence to the leading band of the contemporary Death Metal genre namely DYING FETUS. But besides delivering solid brutality, on “Murder Without End” FLESHGRIND also managed to implement some surprising parts and elements into their sound, e.g. the whole album is sort of linked by a minimalistic piano piece that ties the songs together and the titletrack and my personal favourite ‘Displayed Decay’ even offer a slightly melodic feeling I really enjoyed. Another highlight is the re-recording of ‘Holy Pedophile’, an old FLESHGRIND demo track that has a damn cool groove. To sum it up, if you are into modern style aggression and gurgling sickness, love blasting speed as well as hard hitting groove then be sure to check out this album, you will not be disappointed. www.fleshgrind.com, the label’s website www.centurymedia.com.
