Enchantments Of Dark Eternity

The US state Washington is of course well known for being the epicentre of Grunge in the early 1990s and some very fine Power Metal in the end of the 1980s. Yet, the area also has some Black Metal acts to offer. GRIEFSPELL is one of them, having released a self-financed digital album in 2022. In the meantime, this album is available in physical form as well, with Morbid Chapel Records being responsible for the CD. The formation of GRIEFSPELL happened the same year as the recording of said album “Enchantments Of Dark Eternity”, after mastermind Z laid his old project LUNACY to rest and teamed up with drummer S.C. to start a new project. But the most interesting question is: what does GRIEFSPELL add to the meanwhile really vast Black Metal scene? Nothing less than being just another project I guess. “Enchantments Of Dark Eternity” means a little more than half an hour of raw Black Metal with some keyboards and some variety but no moments that made an impression or even an impact to me. Somehow this album sounds like an uninspired hotchpotch of ideas that we already heard quite often, garnished with some poor sounding keyboards. After listening to the album quite a few times, there is nothing that I really remembered about it, thus I am quite sure that I’ll hardly ever listen to “Enchantments Of Dark Eternity” again. Maybe there is someone out there who might still be interested in GRIEFSPELL. In this case, visit https://griefspell.bandcamp.com or www.morbidchapelrecords.com
