The Bastard

Mike Scalzi’s (THE LORD WEIRD SLOUGH FEG) side project offers quite a bit of Black Metal moments and kind of pagan / medieval sounds combined with the weird “celtic” Power Metal approach of his main band, so I think it fits in here fine and although “The Bastard” is mainly Power Metal, the typical HAMMERFALL fan will probably hate this one, so I’m counting on open-minded extremists like you… Previously named UNHOLY CADAVER, HAMMERS OF MISFORTUNE recorded a highly original album over a couple of years on an 8 tracker (good sound, though). It’s a concept album about mythology, ancient magic and bloody times, actually it’s even a Metal opera in 3 acts. The singers (female, male (Scalzi) and Black Metal Screams) represent the different characters on here and if you think you might like (unusual) Power Metal with more extreme and acoustic parts (sometimes a bit like BATHORY): don’t hesitate! This one is definitely one of the most fascinating records I’ve heard for quite a while! Mind-blowing! P. S.: no cheap keyboards on here! www.hammersofmisfortune.com
