The Dawn Of A New Age
(Viceral Vomit / Hell Productions)
40:20min
Wow, it’s been some time since I have heard a 40 minute demo tape. In HATE EMBRACE’s case, this is one big plus. 7 songs of really good Death Metal. Bear in mind this is their first work as a band, even though they started in 2008. The Brazilian guys have crafted some heavy Death Metal, full of blast beats and chugging rhythms, bordering on fast Thrash Metal too. Clearly, they still need to develop their identity since most of the songs seemed to have similarities. Anyway, the production is surprisingly good here. Everything is clear and punchy, with the vocals being a little up close in the final mix. Guitars and bass tones really mix up well with the vocals that are based in your regular deep growl, but also some mid grunts. The pummeling drums that seems never stop are just one of the highlights of this demo tape. Amazingly, their use of keyboards is really subtle and fits perfectly the atmosphere of their debut demo tape. They do stay in the fast lane for most of "The Dawn Of The New Age", but HATE EMBRACE has enough variation to make this one interesting demo tape.
