What a short title, haha! After two full albums Danish modern Death / Thrashers HATESPERE release a MCD featuring one new track, two coversongs and four live recordings from their European tour with THE HAUNTED. The strong new song ‘Release The Pain’ ranges between up- and midtempo with a quite melodic chorus and is a nice foretaste of the next album. The coversongs are ‘Bark At The Moon’ by OZZY OSBOURNE and ‘Caught In A Mosh’ by ANTHRAX. On the musical side both songs are performed perfectly (I guess Ozzy would drop dead if he had to sing to such a speedy and pushing version!) but on the vocal side they lack the magic of the originals, which is of course a risk if you take on such metal classics. But altogether well done. The live recordings of ‘Lowlife Vendetta’, ‘Bloodsoil’, ‘Plague’ and ‘Hate’ are of excellent quality and point up the band’s aggressive and powerful appearance on stage. So, for both fans and people who don’t know HATESPHERE yet this release offers a good deal of modern Death / Thrash Metal.
