HEINOUS RITE hail from New Mexico, US and I’ve no idea about their members and I need to know who these guys are. “Rituals Of Disgust” is their first ever release and it is getting a phenomenal CD treatment by Atavism Records. This short, sweet and heavy near-24 minutes release is exactly what you’d want as a fan of Death Metal. It’s chaotic not to the point of being modern, wait, there’s nothing modern about this release. This is classic old school Death Metal at its best. The vocals weave with the heavy guitars and the drums just don’t give a fuck. They’re all encompassing and cut through time like a traditional Death Metal album that you love. Seven tracks, that’s all and everything’s just as pleasing as the next track. The guitars take us on strange paths of melody whilst walking through the shades of darkness. This is really good stuff! It’s raw, muddy, dirty and everything you’d want out of a Metal release. ‘Torture Imagined’ and ‘A Curse’ have to be the best tracks off this release. Both, heavily rely on brilliant solos that take you back to Gothenburg albeit slowly. The solo especially on ‘A Curse’ is a treat to the ears, it touches upon Trey’s thought process while meandering around the Atlantic. Gosh, this is a killer release Atavism Records has picked up a brilliant release and if you’re a fan of Death Metal you need to check this out. Dark, brooding, forceful, atmospheric and ever-so-slightly soul-jarring! Man, those guitars sound fantastic! Recommended.
