Having never payed a special attention to them and having Bruce from EMBALMED listening to one of HELL MILITIA’s CDs as one of the only 4 CDs he’ll listen to ever (true story) I was curious as to the greatness of these guys. So we go on to the disc at hand and we get some tasty atmospheric guitar and nary a keyboard in sight with some good “De Mysteriis” like Black Metal, very enjoyable, BUT, then they feel the need to stop and slow things down and I ask why? Granted it has lots of atmosphere and heaviness but just for a bit, then it gets boring and you long and pine for the speed parts again! With the slow, bordering on suicidal Black Metal (and about that, if you are suicidal do it! Don’t go around saying “I’m gonna do it! Look at me! I hate myself and wanna die!” By the way, didn’t that dipshit Kurt Cobain of NIRVANA used to say that? So, Kurt and Jon Nödtveidt did it, why don’t you?) and some riot Thrash backing vocals that I don’t know why the fuck they included them here, they bore the shit outta me! Especially on ‘Shoot Knife Strangle Beat & Crucify’ (bad english? Now why would you fuckin’ beat somebody that you’ve already shot, knifed and strangled? Maybe they were thinking of France’s own world cup team!) (well Luis, that one’s a GG ALLIN cover; so it’s not of France origin… – Frank) and then the fast returns on ‘The Pig That Became A God’ only to stop again!! Fuck! Why?! Ok, I get you can be atmospheric enough already! Fuck, forget it! There are some good parts that show lots of gusto and that they are ready to slaughter the world!
