HOMO IRATUS

Even though I have no real evidence for it, I suppose that the four lads of HOMO IRATUS are hailing from sunny Greece. The names of the bandmembers (Kostas, Argyris…) and the fact that they already supported many international acts in Greece (NAPALM DEATH, MALEVOLENT CREATION, IMPALED NAZARENE, CHILDREN OF BODOM etc.) simply lead me to this conclusion. But what the fuck, musically the band should easily satisfy the needs of everyone around the globe into grinding and groovy madness. HOMO IRATUS got together back in July 1998 and at the time were heavily influenced by old CARCASS / NAPALM DEATH. Those influences still shine through, but nowadays HOMO IRATUS seem to concentrate on extremely groovy, yet very intense sounding midtempo parts a lot more. Due to all this their material partly reminds me on what some of the Danish bands often tend to come up with (i.e. ILLDISPOSED, KONKHRA etc.). The overall sound is extremely low tuned and brutal, the production is perfect for this kind of music and the vocals get performed in a nice gutteral way. Unfortunately they often tend to use effects in that department, which I don’t like too much as they sound way more convincing when they use their natural brutality. Furthermore you’ll partly get some incorporated, unusual percussion effects, spoken parts etc., but all that surprisingly fits into the overall quite apocalyptic scenario pretty good. So, all in all a fine release for all the sickos among you.
