HORNA
Ääniä Yössä
(Debemur Morti Productions)

It took me two weeks to write this review. Not because HORNA’s music is too complicated or avantgarde to understand – no, exactly the opposite! This is traditional norwegian Black Metal played the old way – old DARKTHRONE, old EMPEROR, old SATYRICON, dark and cold. Nothing more, nothing less. So what am I going to tell you? If you read SARGEIST – “The Heinous Path” in the review section you can easily adapt it to HORNA and wouldn’t be far from their sound. One thing is different: there are four songs on this record, not six. Three are a good mixture of the elder nothern Black Metal style, music- and soundwise. The singer wants to be the most extreme – as usual. Track four is a ten minute monotonous bastard with the one (!) typical up-tempo uff-ta Black Metal beat (yeah, the one where you can only hear the hi-hat and imagine bass- and snaredrum) and three or four simple (yet atmospheric) riffs – I am not sure. The cover totally fits the whole record: it gives you the impression that you have seen it before but don’t remember were. For fans only and definitely not bad, if you not already have one or two of this kind of records in your collection. “Ääniä Yössä” will be released as a normal and a A5 CD.
