Judging from the opening track, ‘Vile Works Of Witchcraft’, you would conclude that HORNED ALMIGHTY spent the last few years absorbing every fiber and nuance of CELTIC FROST, early DESTRUCTION, and other important figures of Black Metal. And one would be correct in that assumption, for HORNED ALMIGHTY only pause long enough to make the rest of their songs seem all the faster and more intense. The songs carry on in their firm, DARKTHRONE manner, and the vocalist does nothing short of puking his guts out all over the record.This band has always been a shade more willing to let their non Black Metal influences, such as Punk, shine through. Since much of Metal is indebted to Punkrock for its very existence, it would make sense for them to allow their music to reflect that. But, with a great deal of the Black Metal scene firmly convinced that its still 1994, offering a band like G.B.H. as an influence is not only anathema, its punishable by being labeled as a poser.
