HUMAN HARVEST
Void Of The Vile
(Iron, Blood And Death Corporation)

Swedish mastermind Jonny Pettersson (WOMBBATH, ROTPIT, ex – MASSACRE) strikes again with HUMAN HARVEST’s third album, again released by premier Mexican label Iron, Blood And Death Corporation. Given the background of Mr. Petterson, one can easily guess what this sounds like: dense, heavy and straightforward Death Metal with some Grindcore elements here and there. Compared to their previous albums, this time the production is darker and tighter. The guitar tone is thick and maybe a little bit murky, which matches the huge and round bass tone. The drums are very present and punchy, but they don’t overpower the rest of the instruments. And the vocals are pushed back just a bit, so they become part of the wall of sound present here. It is a well balanced mix, although I would’ve liked the master to be less bricked. Performance wise, it is notorious that Petterson can handle all instruments very well, including the drum programming, which feels organic and pretty relevant I may say. HUMAN HARVEST has had no noticeable change from their previous outputs and that is good. It is as straightforward as it comes and I really respect that. I mean, it seems that in the last decade, the global underground has been tilting more and more towards Doom / Death Metal bands that, except for a chosen few, have saturated the market. This makes albums such as “Void Of The Vile” a highlight in today’s scene. It features no experiments, no progressive concepts, no weird instruments or effects, no atmospheric elements and no boring or predictable songs. It is basically half an hour of intense, severe and relentless audio punishment.
