Remember the old saying "Italians do it better"? Those who invented it must have forgotten to think of music in common and Death Metal in particular. HUMANGLED from Pisa, the town of the Leaning Tower (to use up the clichés), are around for six years now, having reunited after a demo-release in 1996. Up to now they released a full-length album ("Fractal" in 2010) and two EPs, their new one "Odd Ethics" being the third. Although I never heard their older stuff, I’m not too keen on catching up on those. This EP is just too average in every way. Four songs full of riffs that seem known too well, combined with a not too brutal, a little clinical production. And you should not forget about the vocals without recognition value. "Odd Ethics" lacks of both speed and freshness. Don’t get me wrong – this EP ain’t bad… But it is not good either. It’s just… average. I’m sorry to say that, because the artwork looked promising and titles like ‘Skinned, To Feel All’ were promising, too. And I tried at least five times to fall in love with this stuff.
