Poland is a land full of amazing Black Metal. Too many bands to name, but you know what I’m talking about. When you crank up a Polish Black Metal album, you usually know exactly what you’re going to get. Except for IFRYT and the new EP “Pluce”. This is just… bad. I mean… really bad. Previously a duo, IFRYT is now a one-man band. And it shows. ‘Klucz Salomona’ starts out good enough. The rough, thrashy Black Metal growls and guitars are satisfying at first. But then some clean singing that’ll get on your last fucking nerve. Then there’s ‘Kona Allah’, beginning with what almost sounds like one single bark of a dog. Again, the track starts out good enough, and if Bartosz Mikry’d just keep to this formula, everything’d be ok. But unfortunately that’s not the case. There’s spoken parts inbetween it all that make my teeth itch. And the song plods and plods on. Finally, there’s ‘Straszne Rzeczy’ which seems to have pianos and a flute mixed in. The spoken word in this track makes me want to rip my earlobes off and bleed to death slowly. There’s ‘la la la’s’ among other irritating noises from his mouth. I can honestly say this is the most head-scratching release this year so far. Is he serious? Is he trying to be funny? Who the living fuck knows. But I do know it’s 19 minutes I’ll never, ever, ever, ever get back… ever. Fore more info, check out www.facebook.com/ifrytmetal, www.facebook.com/godzovwar
