Just what hot summer nights need, chaotic Black / Death Metal, violent and delivered with brute force. And hot humid summer nights, I guess our frantic friends from Singapore have experience with such, and that is perhaps why they can deliver such powerful and smashing War Metal as this. INFERNAL EXECRATOR already has a quite impressive discography under their belt, this might just be their second full length, though there is a ton of demos, EPs, split EPs and live releases to dive into, and that will happen for my sake, if I can find any of their older stuff, as I think this is my first encounter with the band. As written, the output is highly chaotic with a good base in Scandinavian Death / Black Metal, delivered much more brutal and in your face, compared to what most of the band up North did back then, from the mid-nineties to mid-zeroes, though the melodic touch is present here, if you survive the carnage to discover the melodies that is. On top of the brutal and noisy guitar riffs and melodies, we have a rasping scream from a world not being ours, grim and frostbitten is might a tad off to say on this account – grim and scorched by the sun I reckon, evil and brutal, as the rest of the output. The production is also quite brutal, a tad to the bright side showcasing all the instruments in the soundpicture with more or less the same level, so the brutal chaos becomes vivid and the ambience shines through, and it actually suits this output quite well, even though a detail drowns here and there. I guess this year will be great for chaotic Black / Death Metal and this is so far in the lead with a few others, competing for the price of the most brutal and menacing album, haven’t you fulfilled your quota for brutal asskickings yet, this is a sure buy!
