The Italian extreme Metal scene is currently experiencing their second dawn and ATMF is supporting this new era by releasing several good albums during 2008. For JANVS it seems that the word progressive is nothing less than the key essence of their doing and their second release “Vega” is a very interesting piece of music. The band is presenting seven songs which are raging from the dark side of the moon means the musical field occupied / invented by bands like PINK FLOYD to more Voices compatible areas of Black / Death Metal (‘Mediterraneo’).The band released their official debut “Fulgures” in 2007 and even if every band which is leaving the standard ways is currently connected with the scene giants OPETH think that nevertheless there are more than one parallel to our Swedish friends. JANVS are combining the base structure of traditional Black Metal with some spheric parts and “real” vocal plus a big portion of the beloved progressive drug but it works and “Vega” is a more than refreshing release. Think that “Vega” is showing a new side of the Italian underground with a band which a trying to combine old and new influences into a different Metal way of life. This automatically means that JANVS can’t offer anything to the defender of the true Black Metal fetish but isn’t our scene doomed to death without progress? www.atmf.net, www.janvs.it
