KOFFIN is a fledgling Estonian band practicing old-fashioned Death Metal with a big sound as we might like watching horror flicks in loud sound, in some place isolated. “Nailed Into The Coffin” is therefore the first demo of this quartet, whose formation dates back to 2019. With a total length of 17 minutes, after a very murky intro, it is ‘Deicide’ which opens the ball, a piece which takes us directly back to the old roots. ‘Legal Genocide’ also smells of the death with SLAYER – esque solos, to make you up in wonder and shaken, by it forbidding atmosphere. With the thrilling trench mortar like bass attack ‘Stupid Thoughts’, comes and goes, and it is therefore ‘Terminator’ which closes this demo with a retro initiation that progressed by the voice of Sander Vider, which is eerily very close to that of Craig Pillard and offers us once again an attractive tribute to the elder gods of antiquity. With a very clean production, mortar like grunting of bass and a cover well in the spirit of the demos, that we found in shambles at the beginning of the 90s, it’s another conjugation of old school Death and 80s horror flicks. Followers of INCANTATION, AUTOPSY and GRAVE should not hesitate to go exploring it, and wishing KOFFIN highly towards making a full length, and continue their horrid journey in the depth of horror and death. “Nailed Into The Coffin” was released digitally and also on cassette (Strok Records), but limited to 37 pieces only!! And obviously in CD format, which was now released by the Polish record company Morbid Chapel Records in co-operation with Rotten Tomb Records.
