KRIEGSZITTERN

KRIEGSZITTERN is a German word that means “Shellshock” or “Bomb Shell Disease“, a posttraumatic stress disorder caused by flying handgrenades and bombs during the first World War. The soldiers in the trenches were traumatized and mentally destroyed by the war and the endless fear of grenades, and back home, their symptoms were called “Kriegszittern”. This nowadays rarely used word was chosen as the name by a newly formed Death Metal outfit from Germany. War is the lyrical topic, and it’s not the only thing this band has in common with BOLT THROWER. It’s also the rootedness in the extreme Punk and Hardcore of the 1980s mainly that builds this bridge. Stenchcore and early Crust Punk left its mark in the sound of KRIEGSZITTERN, so it’s no wonder that their first demo sometimes reminds of the very early works of the British grand masters of war and death. But what’s most striking here is the absolutely rude and unpolished sound. The five songs on this tape are like severed limbs and open bodies with dismembered guts. So, this demo has nothing less to offer than some of the most brutal and devastating Death Metal in years. KRIEGSZITTERN are dirty as the trenches, brutal and remorseless as the war itself. See and hear for yourself at: kriegszittern.bandcamp.com. Again it was Caligari Records who dug out this gem and unleashed it upon those who understand about really extreme music in a (too) limited amount of 150 pro tapes with pro covers, of course. So go once more to see what they have in store at: caligarirecords.bandcamp.com or www.caligarirecords.com.
