LACERATION

LACERATION has been on my radar for a bit now. The primary reason is that I am a huge fan of the Florida Death Metal style. So when I came across LACERATION (who hail from Northern California mind you), they were in the early days a bit more SUFFOCATION, New York Death Metal, but slowly evolved to playing this style, that combines all the greats. MALEVOLENT CREATION, BRUTALITY, KILLING ADDICTION and MONSTROSITY. I can go on but now you may be saying “Are they unique in any way then”? Well, I think we all know the answer to that, but my thing is when a band plays with conviction, power and attitude and presents a sound that draws you in and gets you headbanging and thinking of the greats, they cannot be all bad. And dear readers, the Metal goodness does not end there! Besides the songwriting prowess of each of the members which is on point, the production just further enhances the fact. The drums are in your face and snappy. The guitars and the riffing can be straightforward and brutal, but also add a touch of technicality. You can hear the bass rumbling along, giving further nuances to the songs. Also, check out that cover art. The colors, the imagery, with hints of Dan Seagrave and we all know what he contributed (well, you should if you call yourself a Metalhead) to many a band from the Florida scene. So yeah, I think I’ve gushed enough, and maybe you should all take a listen for yourselves. One minor gripe that I do have is that there are / were 10 (!) bands with this name. So take heed and know what you are buying. www.facebook.com/lacerationofficial, www.facebook.com/20buckspin
