Another old-style Power Metal band to grace my review table and from Greece again no less. As I’ve mentioned in some prior reviews, this type of sound holds a fondness in my heart, because I grew up on bands from the LA area that had much the same sound as LEATHERHEAD. There are touches of early MALICE and WARRIOR, WARLORD and even LEATHERWOLF. Dang! But do they touch all the bases. Even while listening to this further I hear CAGE, touches of HELLOWEEN and SANCTUARY. What I like about the group is they approach their influences with energy and conviction and while the source material is obvious its not overtly so. What’s funny is, I just recently reviewed their fellow countrymen’s latest release from TRIUMPHER. Although a very similar sound, TRIUMPHER has a more direct MANOWAR sound. If push comes to shove I would choose LEATHERHEAD. They are more well-rounded and dynamic to my ears. The production is spot on and you hear everything clearly and with distinction. What thing that I do have a bit of curiosity about is the cover image and some of their earlier releases delve into the Native American imagery, but I don’t see it in their songwriting / or lyrical approach. Nothing bad or negative mind you, I’m a sucker for cover art and I was looking at the figure for the cover of this album. Another solid release from No Remorse Records.
