Mother Russia has countless daughters and sons and within the last decade a lot of them have realized their Slavic heritage. LESHAK are an extremely young band heading from this area and they are trying to fuse mid tempo Death Metal with their Pagan roots. Unfortunately the most important word within my introduction is the word trying. First of all the playing time is more than unacceptable with in total around 25 minutes – not counting the hidden ‘Was wollen wir trinken’ bonus track, with – to put it mildly – more than improvable vocals – which is far away from the cult reputation of releases like GORGOROTH’s "Antichrist" these days. On the other hand the band is completely focused on the additional support by female flute player Zuks which is working within one track but becomes more than predictable after song number three. It’s a shame to be forced to advise such harsh criticism especially if it comes to a young band like LESHAK, but if you enter the arena the risk is there that the lions will eat you alive. For sure one of the most disappointing Pagan releases of the last 12 months. www.myspace.com/leshakband, www.stygiancrypt.cjb.net
