Well played Thrash Metal – nothing less, nothing more! LIPID are a Danish band, active since 1995, although their debut (and since 2023 their only full length release) “Deliver Us From Hell” was released in 2005. From 2010 to 2014 the band split up, but then returned and after almost nine years here they are with their second full length “The Perfect Killing Machine” on Great Dane Records. The album was released in March, but saw its physical light in November. I’m sure this context will help you to better understand the band and their sound. LIPID came straight from a period when Thrash Metal wasn’t in its higher expansion period and this might be the reason why they hadn’t the success they deserve. With “The Perfect Killing Machine” they want to state that they have something to say in terms of writing and playing. They take all the good stuff that different ways of playing Thrash Metal have created and put it together. Some melodic riding, rhythmic phrases and good solos turn this work into an enjoyable experience. The voice is very powerful and reminds me of some groovy lines. Maybe the record is a little bit short. I usually like short length albums – I listen to a lot of Hardcore Punk and Grindcore, so this is normally a plus – but in this case I had the impression that I want to hear more. Maybe just one or two more tracks would have given a sense of completion. Maybe, since I had this impression, this is a signal that the job was done! It’s definitely worth a listen for fans of Thrash Metal, Groove Metal and maybe even Death Metal. To know more check out www.facebook.com/lipidthrash or www.facebook.com/greatdanerecords
