LUNAR TOMBFIELDS
The Eternal Harvest

A band that is named after a song from the mighty VENENUM? Well, this would really stir up hope for a great Death Metal band unless the band is signed to the French premier Black Metal label Les Acteurs De L’Ombre Productions. So I was out expecting some more fine dark and extreme music from this new French duo. And I was definitely not disappointed from the first output from LUNAR TOMBFIELDS. “The Eternal Harvest” offers unique music that sounds to me like it is the missing link between Epic (Doom) Metal and Black Metal. As far as the structures of the songs are concerned, LUNAR TOMBFIELDS really orientate towards Epic Metal, as the four songs on the album are really long, nearly all of them pass the ten minute mark. And the overall atmosphere on “The Eternal Harvest” is very epic as well, as if you’re about to experience historic moments. Yet LUNAR TOMBFIELDS definitely play Black Metal, with all its trademarks. Here I often felt remembered of the first album of THE ABYSS, but most of the time at a distinctly slower speed. On top of this amazing and fluent mix we get some great guitar work that brings out the beauty in darkness. Especially ‘As The Spirit Wanes, The Form Appears’ needs a special mention here. Yet all of the four songs sound really great and are worth checking out, particularly if you’re into Black Metal. Visit www.facebook.com/lunartombfields and www.facebook.com/ladloproductions
