I didn’t know anything about this American band, but I had heard several albums from their label Cruz Del Sur, which has a wide catalog of Heavy Metal bands with touches of Doom. Well, MEGA COLOSSUS is on the Heavy Metal side of the catalog, specifically Epic Heavy Metal. I have checked out their old material, “Far From Light” and “The Smokeless Fires” and their sound was very NWOBHM mixed with the current Epic sound. But this new album has changed things a little bit. Everything is much more modern. I don’t know how to explain it. They have their MAIDEN moments with a more contemporary sound. Suddenly, they raise the intensity level, getting closer to Power Metal and the drums have the impact of much more powerful bands (you might disagree, but they remind me a lot of STILL REMAINS in their song ‘The Worst Is Yet To Come’, especially in its more melodic part). There are six songs on this album, and the bar is not lowered at any time. Good production and good songs. Heavy / Power Metal of very good quality.
