MIZANTHROP
Demo 2012
(Self-financed)

Out of the ashes of, among others, the underrated and almost forgotten Metalcore pioneers MINION, AGE and still active in other local heroes like MÖRSER or ZODIAC, a new five-piece from my hometown Bremen is on its way to conquer the scene with their interpretation of brutal Metal! The MIZANTHROP started in early 2012, played their first shows and recorded four songs for a demo, which is now available through their bandcamp page. The first thing that strikes the eye: they sing in German. While listening to songs like the opener ‘Aber Glaube’ or ‘Diesseits’, you’ll soon find the legacy of MINION. A certain Hard- / Metalcore edge is always present (just listen to the opening riff of ‘Aber Glaube’), and early MASTODON must also be among the faves of these guys. Didn’t I meet guitar player Basti, wearing a MASTODON shirt a few weeks ago? But despite all these quite modern influences, MIZANTHROP are still rooted in Thrash and Death Metal. The song ‘Zahlenwerk’ stands in as a proof for this. So we get a fresh, brutal mix of music. I like this stuff and hope to catch them live on stage soon. Even without any local patriotism, MIZANTHROP are worth checking out for all those, who are not too deadlocked in their musical interests.
