MORBID WINDS
The Ruin Of Forgotten Desolation

Being honest on this one, at first sight I thought that it is going to be another low-quality Black Metal demo, but I was so embarrassingly wrong… In order to contextualize, MORBID WINDS are a Polish trident of fiends involved in other acts as THRONEUM, NECROSADIST, MOLOCH LETAILS and MORDHELL, amongst a bunch of other ones too. Black Metal is what prevails here obviously, and this litany entitled “The Ruin Of Forgotten Desolation” begins with a 2-minutes intro which evokes the ambience of a cold and desolated landscape (as the title properly suggests). Then ‘Nocturnal Portal’ chimes the bells of damnation with furious pounding, while a keyboard in the distance usher along with murmurous voices in the vein of BEHERIT / INQUISITION. ‘Flesh Temples Annihilated’ follows the same inertia, haunting with its string passages and hypnotic rhythms in a similar way as the previous song. After that, ‘Into Eternity’ diminishes the tempo for the catchiest song which evokes some hints of DARKTHRONE, BATHORY and SAMAEL (old), with a great end by the hand of the drummer and his hammering toms for the longest track of the demo. Finally, ‘Tomb Of My Sanity’ begins with a Greek Metal ambience as the twin guitars patiently increases their intensity, following some black vomits and a narration which puts the final nail to this release, but then an outro which sounds as a continuation of the intro, signs the aftermath of this experienced demons. On the other hand, the front cover seems to be a little bit childish in comparison to the feeling of the music itself, but that’s just a scratch in the water… But what is so interesting on this even though it is nothing new at all? The efficacy by the hand of their simple arrangements and textures. With a few resources MORBID WINDS can deliver Black Metal without pretentions or trendy attitudes, nothing here is random and the Polish advancing, direct and merciless way is present still after decades. “The Ruin Of Forgotten Desolation” in its almost 21 minutes of darkness, brings the right amount of Black Metal that would keep you interested from beginning to end. www.morbidchapelrecords.com, https://morbidchapelrecords.bandcamp.com
