This release by the Brazilian Thrashers MORFEUS features a remastered version of their debut-LP “Disbelieved World”, the two demo-tapes “Thrashing Assault” and ” Anachronic Disease” plus an 2005 rehearsal version of an old song, namely ‘Tortura’ from 1987. The reason for this output was the fact that the band is now back in business, they played their reunion gig in November 2004, after a ten year break. “Disbelieved World” was originally recorded and released in 1993, and it was hardly to find anymore, so they decided to re-release their debut. Well, I personally do not think it is a good idea to start a new chapter with the release of an old album, but maybe there was huge demand by the fans to do so. Musically they offer nothing really new. Thrash Metal like it was played in the late eighties by so many bands, like SODOM, KREATOR, SEPULTURA or EXODUS, but the music is well played, on the same level like the mentioned bands. The vocals sometimes tip over into high screams, but mainly this notorious husk shouting, known by many Thrash Metal acts. Of course the sound of the demo tracks, as they are not remastered, is rather rough, but acceptable. I wonder why they did not become more famous, but maybe 1993 was not a good time regarding Thrash Metal. The booklet presents a band biography and many photos, cover artworks etc. So all in all a fine output. Nothing new here, but actually great old school Thrash Metal. www.marquee.com.br
