Kinda brave to kick off an album by an acoustic interlude and flute, I’d say. Well, a Slovenian progressive Doom / Death Metal act MOTHERMOUND doesn’t hesitate to do so anyway. The band’s debut album, titled "The Burden Of Tomorrow", that was released on a small Slovenian label Hollow Earth Records in 2013, contains actually surprisingly crispy, melodic, atmospheric and down to earth like Doom / Death Metal, with a twist of progressiveness and old school. Basically MOTHERMOUND do all things right to make their beautifully rockin’ Doom / Death Metal sound like these guys could be your best friends when seeing them playing live. An interaction between death grunts and clean vocals seems to work nicely within the songs too, creating sort of an ear-warming balance for the listeners that may spend a few precious and entertaining moments with this particular disc in question. MOTRHERMOUND have clearly understood their own concept for making some catchy, nicely flowing and warm sounding Doom / Death Metal, what it actually takes from them to make things working as a band. "The Burden Of Tomorrow" is thoroughly an enjoyable release, spiced with some good feelings and retro-ish, hipp’ish vibe.
