MYTHOSPHERE
Pathological

Maryland’s MYTHOSPHERE embodies the essence of Stoner Metal with their first full-length “Pathological”. But the band’s no stranger to its doom-laden content as three members of PALE DIVINE are in the mix (Dana Ortt, Ron McGinnis and Darin McCloskey). Victor Arduini rolls out the full membership. It’s pretty easy to tell the band’s genre with its album cover art. And that’s good, because no true fan of Stoner Doom will be let down. “Pathological” begins with a beautiful array of acoustic and electric guitars swaying with the relaxed drumming and the classic old school style of vocals. ‘Ashen Throne’ is the perfect beginning to pull the listener in. And the album simply doesn’t disappoint from there. ‘King’s Call To Arms’ is a mesmerizing, trippy journey as ‘For No Other Eye’ takes us into a swirling world of misty aural conflagurations. The fourth track ‘Pathogical’ is pure buzzing guitars and vocals that soak you in its passionate waves. ‘Walk In Darkness’ sort of chugs along in a ’70s style delivery leading into ‘Star Crossed’, with its immediate guitar solo at the start evolving into an almost filthy sound that contains real instruments including drums and none of that goddamn auto-tune. It’s nice when the band can actually play / sing the songs themselves. ‘No Halo’ is almost the more Rock side of IRON MAIDEN with its NWOBHM sound. ‘Through The Night’ wraps it up with a mid-paced, mystic bard-like story that gently lays the album to rest. MYTHOSPHERE are a band to watch out for. So gather up your chemicals, sit back and immerse yourself in the rapturous rhythms of a group of guys who know how to plunge our souls into mindwarping bliss.
