NADER SADEK
In The Flesh

Doing my personal review of the most impressive record of this year’s releases NADER SADEK come to my mind, although it was already released in 2011. As I do not follow the major Metal press I can only guess if this record was featured properly to its worth and did not just stand in the shadow of the too strong grandfathers of Death MORBID ANGEL. Above all as "In The Flesh" was released on the same label in the same year. Mentioning MORBID ANGEL, if you also had your difficulties with the Industrial / EBM influences and the questionable sing-along chorus of ‘I Am Morbid’ on their latest record NADER SADEK resp. “In The Flesh” will definitely be the more than worthy compensation. And what a furious and well composed record this is! “In The Flesh” combines the very best style elements of MORBID ANGEL during their “Covenant” and “Domination” era, mixing it up with an even higher dose of MONSTROSITY’s “In Dark Purity”. Spiced up with own ingredients, of course. This album contains everything that is obligatory for a timeless Florida Death Metal classic as NADER SADEK come up with e.g. razor-sharp guitar riffs entailing brutal sections leading into majestic melodies that send shivers up and down your spine. Top-notch musicianship is combined with excellent songwriting skills conjuring memorable compositions. Additionally everything is completed with utterly dark and raw energy. Guitar solos in the classic MORBID ANGEL, MONSTROSITY or DEATH style, massive double base thunder, straight top-level blast beats, brutal and most of all real Death Metal vocals like the ones on MORBID ANGEL’s “Formulas…” (which is no real wonder if you look closely), various dark interludes, some acoustic guitars, perfectly placed and executed tempo changes and so on and on. A few for a Death Metal record quite untypical elements like a short tribal drumming, a short violin section, female background vocals or a from Carl Orff’s “Carmina Burana“ inspired section appear just one time and are most of all always done in favour of the song and the overall atmosphere. These elements are incorporated that clever, that they do not stand out as something odd, just the opposite. Still it is premier league Death Metal the way it was meant to be. In this setting it goes without saying that the sound is also fitting perfectly: clear, shredding, raw and full sounding. As the main man behind everything, called Nader Sadek, is an artist for visual art the whole layout is done by the master himself and furthermore really impressive. Short as the playing time is there is so much going on in here that it never starts to get boring. Even when listening to “In The Flesh” in a row for the whole day! Absolutely no filler, just killer!!! www.nadersadek.com, www.facebook.com/naderflesh, www.season-of-mist.com
