Hell yes, NECRODEATH will probably remain my favorite underground act from Italy forever, that’s for sure! In the late 80s, early 90s they gained themselves the same kind of respect and underground credibility as MERCILESS did in Sweden and (the original) MAYHEM in Norway (all three bands were very like-minded anyway)… Throughout their career they always respresented very honest and true-to-the-bone blackened Thrash Metal, without any compromises or mainstream influences of any kind! Musically pretty much like classic SLAYER meets classic KREATOR with a big fuck-off attitude and Black Metal grimness to it. These guys have written so many killer tunes in their career that a single "best of" album by no means can do justice to their impressive back catalogue. But "20 Years Of Noise 1985 – 2005" is meant to be exactly that – a "best of" NECRODEATH album, with 15 tracks in total, all of them exclusively remastered for this release. There’s two songs of each album on here, an extremely cool cover of BLACK SABBATH’s ‘Black Sabbath’ (musically pretty close to the original, but with an almost Black Metal type, charismatic vocal delivery!!!) plus the four songs of their classic "The Shining Pentagram" demo. The CD comes as a nice black digipak with a very lovely designed booklet, full of vintage pictures and all the lyrics. The only two little points of criticism might be, that they have not exactly been around the full 20 years (the band was inactive for quite some time in between 1989’s "Fragments Of Insanity" and 1999’s "Mater Of Evil" albums) and that the older songs differ in loudness from the newer ones quite a bit. That could easily have been avoided during the remastering process I suppose… But if you don’t own any regular NECRODEATH album yet, you better buy any of those instead, as this is mainly of interest because of the demo songs and cover tune (which weren’t available on CD before).
