NECROTUM
Undead Symbiosis

I remember on one of my trips to Eastern Europe, I was at a subway station and noticed a female passenger with a long-sleeved band shirt. Obviously, I was curious about the band, but I didn’t recognize the logo. I made a mental note to look into the who and the what. Well, that band was NECROTUM (Romania) and I’ve been a fan / aware of them since their “Tales From The Crypt” release. At that time they were primarily early CANNIBAL CORPSE in sound and with some primitive DEATH stylings. Sometimes the sound / production wasn’t always the greatest, but there was an exuberance and emotion on display that let me be interested still to this day. Now granted this isn’t their latest 2024 release, this particular one is from 2022. Who knows, maybe down the line we can get the latest to review for you. Anyway, with this release, they have progressed and evolved to better production, and the songwriting has become more interesting and is not one-dimensional. There is now much more of an INCANTATION vibe happening to go along with the evolution in their sound. They have taken steps to add more nuances and variations in their songwriting. More to draw the listener in. Now we all know nothing is new nowadays but like mentioned, I appreciate their sound, and with the better production, those guitars set a mood. The vocals have now more depth and much more variation in the singing approach. Just a good, solid old school Death Metal release in my eyes. I don’t think you can go wrong with this release. www.facebook.com/necrotum-113693920088493, www.morbidchapelrecords.com
