The French extreme Metal scene is constantly getting stronger and stronger – I mean, if a band like this 4-piece act NECROVERCDOSE from Marseille can just work as any indicator for all that. "Off" is just NECROVERDOSE’s debut studio album, although they have existed since 2001. Well, better getting your debut record released later than never, I guess. Musically NECROVERDOSE are mostly rooted from American sounding Death Metal (IMMOLATION, CANNIBAL CORPSE, etc.) but have still far-sighted enough to add some a bit more original – even kinda experimental elements into the sound of their own, avoiding to sound completely unoriginal and uninspiring act for their own good. Two different types of vocal styles – those deep death grunts and occasionally appearing snarly Black Metal vocals, are also blended into the songs in a relatively fine way, just to add more depth and contrast for this overall well constructed and pleasing sounding opus. In the very same breath, some of the riffs they have put in use on this record, are clearly more Black-ish types of riffs, even if the main emphasis is mostly on those familiar, brutal and heavy Death Metal riffs and stuff. NECROVERDOSE have all the needed ability to make some name for themselves; so powerful and instrumentally skilled group they already prove to be on their full-length debut release. Their arsenal of weapons are loaded and they are glowing hot as burning swords ready to chop some heads off, so nothing should stop them to gain a slice of popularity for themselves too. Without saying much more about NECROVERDOSE’s debut, I think it’s simply easier for everyone to check some samples out from them, and then just decide whether they are worth your time or not. I for one, am glad I gave a fair listen to them though. Band: www.myspace.com/necroverdose, label: www.greatdanerecs.com
