NEGATIVE CREEPS don’t exactly give me the creeps and I wasn’t off the rocker when I checked their current output either. This Greek outfit was founded beginning of the 90s and around 1998 they started to play so-called Satancore. This says it all really. NEGATIVE CREEPS stand for hardcore elements combined with contemporary extreme Metal ingredients such as Death and Black Metal components. The vocals sound like a mixture of Max Cavalera and Robert Flynn. The guitar riffs are groovy, a bit crust here and there, some stakkato cadences — every now and then some whammy solos. The drums are mid-paced, some mediocre blast-beats (is that the Death Metal element discussed in the endlosed leaflet?!). The bass pumps from below. This band follows the tradition that acts such as DEW-SCENTED, HATEBREED, HEAVEN SHALL BURN, BIOHAZARD etc. have established. I think the production is ok(ish… don’t liek the bass drum sound!!!), but definitely not a blast as the record company claims. I really think the guitars could be way more aggressive and the songs more varied. As you can sense from this evaluation, firstly I am not into this kind of music and secondly… this really lacks identity. The outfit in question sounds a bit like the 666th clone of all those mediocre New Metal combos pestering and challenging my sense of humour day by day. Definitely musicians who know how to handle their instruments and all that — but honestly, no identity whatsoever from my point of view. www.black-lotus-recs.com
