Polish horde NEKRAPE are active in the underground since 2012 already and after one demo release they finally present their first full-length in form of “The Hypostasis Of The Archons”. The album consists of eleven tracks but with a very tight running time of hardly 27 minutes. The band plays a filthy mixture of primitive Death / Black and Thrash Metal which brings back some memories of good old bands like VENOM, SODOM or even early BEHERIT. Even though their style is raw and kept simple, the songs are brutal with proper songwriting, well considered but brutal structures, good and well dozed instrumentation and a solid Death Metal fundament. The guitars are brutal as hell with proper and precise drumming and brutal vocals varying between effected voices and Black Metal screams. Songs like ‘Spiritual Assault’ or ‘A Fox In The Vineyard Of God’ are well structured with some good and surprisingly melodic guitar tunes while songs like ‘Inexorable Upheaval’ or ‘Constructs Of Filth’ are primitive and raw Black Metal with some Thrash Metal roots in it. The production is kept raw and simple but far away from the garage production some Black Metal bands prefer. The cover artwork is fine and their band logo once again reminds me of mighty BEHERIT. Fans of this style or especially of South American Death / Black / Thrash Metal should give this raw piece a listen as the involved guys are very skilled in what they do and have a good touch for proper brutal songwriting.
