NOCTURNAL BREED
Napalm Nights

It’s time for Norwegian blackened Thrashers NOCTURNAL BREED’s 5th studio album, and we all pretty much know what to expect from it, right? Or we just don’t. There has always been something really appealing to these Norwegians’ strongly MOTÖRHEAD-ish Thrash’n’Roll, ever since they put this act together almost about 20 years ago already. From one album to another NOCTURNAL BREED have managed to refine their own concept of getting some good and ol’ Rock’n’Roll, Thrash Metal, Black Metal and lotsa their own somewhat trademark-ish stink incorporated into their stuff. "Napalm Nights", as much fun as the title of this very album may suggest to bring to all of us, still has a very serious attempt to introduce all that seriousness and ambitiousness that the guys indeed do have towards the stuff they do. A very good example about this is the title track ‘Napalm Nights’ that lasts over 12 minutes, managing to show NOCTURNAL BREED’s quite a different few sides musically actually – from a seriously thrashing and mean sounding act to this ambitious foursome that loves to catch things with a bit more epic type of riffs into the songs – and at the same time trying to break some existing norms as far as the band’s uncompromising music is concerned. Vile, evil and truly ass-kicking, blackened Thrash is where NOCTURNAL BREED have always proved to be quite masters at – blending together some Bay Area styled Thrash and Teutonic Thrash perfectly – and the very same words can be applied to their latest opus "Napalm Nights" as well. There’s over 1 hour of music on "Napalm Nights", which may seem to be a bit too much at first but once sinking your teeth in to this, you will realize how much musical pleasure this record has given back to you. NOCTURNAL BREED can do no wrong, as this album proves it loud and clear again.
