NOCTURNAL WITCH
Summoning Hell
(Undercover Records)
33:13min

Thuringian Black / Thrash horde NOCTURNAL WITCH have just finished their first hellish full length "Summoning Hell", which will be unleashed upon mankind by the end of March. This two men project consisting of Baphomet and Tyrant is already around since 2009 and they play a fresh and unused sounding mixture of Black and Thrash Metal with influences from 80s Death / Thrash. Bands like POSSESSED, DARKTHRONE and IMMORTAL come into my mind while listening to the first tracks. The production by Patrick W. Engel of Temple Of Disharmony Recordings is clear and very powerful, sounding old school but very well produced. All instruments can be heared clearly and precisely. The guitar work of Tyrant is strong and varying and his hellish leads are really enjoyable. The vocals are harsh but fit perfect into their hellish sound. The drums of Baphomet are fast, precise and uncompromising. The first real jewel of this album is ‘Black Star’, a little Black / Thrash hymn with a fine Swedish sounding lead melody going straight into your mind, reminding of MERCILESS or other Swedish gods. Another little jewel is ‘Realm Of The Dead’ with its cool middle part, somehow reminds me of DEATH mixed with old UNANIMATED. The whole material seems to be influenced by the Scandinavian Black / Thrash movement of the 90s with influeces of old German Thrash like KREATOR and SODOM. The total running time of this album is just 33 minutes, but I prefer to have a short album without fillers instead of having weak songs on it. NOCTURNAL WITCH simply stops when all is said and done. No fillers, no compromises. More info at: www.facebook.com/pages/nocturnal-witch/228180353871766, www.undercover-records.de
