NOROTH
It Dwells Amongst Us

No! This does not sound like it is from Seattle, Washington! This surely belongs to the lost demo era of early to mid 90s Finland. Furthermore, the overall atmosphere invokes the excellent “Fulfill The Curse” by HOODED MENACE. Now, the name of the album “It Dwells Amongst Us” couldn’t have been any more perfect, this is it! This is the sound of the swamp monster, the thing that will raise its ugly head breathing out chemical waste and leaving radioactive footprints. NOROTH have used a simple and effective vehicle here, they’ve stuck to the dirty low, they’ve dug out the lowest notes, sounds and approaches in creating Death Metal and have stuck with it throughout the album. I’d imagine this would be utterly enjoyable in a live setting! There is nothing new here, the band simply puts their faith in the mostrous 90s Death Metal approach and they manage to execute it well! No, there are no issues here, the full length or the mini album however you want to call it is just about 23 minutes in length. So far, we’ve got the tone, approach, length of the release and the spirit of the musicians behind the project being in the right place. Do we need anything more? No, we do not. This is well done Death Metal. Recommended, go get a copy from Morbid Chapel Records who continue digging the bowels of life on this planet to pick up some excellent releases.
