NOTORIUS
Prophets Of False

From the Ore Mountains in Germany, the three piece NOTORIUS comes to show how they think Black Metal should sound: hateful vocals, simple and straight songs, yet never too primitive or unmelodious. With “Prophets Of False”, they have a second demo available (after “Empatia” from 2013) that serves as their statement. The opening ‘A Call To Arms’ already shows the qualities of NOTORIUS: based on a simple, yet very catchy melody line, this one goes straight forward to the mind to stay. The quasi-title track ‘Withstand The Prophets Of False’ has the same outstanding qualities, basically in a mid tempo and spiced with harmonies that make it hard to believe that this band doesn’t come from the cold Norwegian woods. ‘Face Of Sorrow’ comes along rather complex, with changes in speed and diversified guitars. This one is highlighted with a peaceful, yet quite eerie break that shows some Post Rock moments as well. And with ‘Sedated – Tranquilized’, NOTORIUS keep up the high level and deliver another diversified song, before the closing ‘Pest’ highlights this demo, summing up all the qualities of NOTORIUS. Add a very basic production full of charming understatement and you get some of the most fascinating Black Metal of this decade! Remembering that “Prophets Of False” is just a demo, I can only state that this band will bring us some more very fine Black Metal with class in the future. The band has signed with Godeater Records recently, so stay tuned for the first full length. In the meantime, “Prophets Of False” is available in digital as well as in physical formats, limited to 100 CDs and 50 tapes. Visit the band at: www.facebook.com/notorius666 or http://notorius.bandcamp.com, where you can buy “Prophets Of False” as well as the first demo “Empatia”.
