NUCKIN’ FUTS from Barcelona in Spain was totally unknown to me so far, so I expected some kind of Fun Metal like TANKARD and was a bit surprised to listen to some pretty hard Thrash Metal tunes while listening to the opener ‘Cradle Of Hypocrisy‘. Influenced by the well-known genre protagonists like EXODUS, OVERKILL and TESTAMENT, the guys thrash themselves through eight pretty tough songs, which sound pretty good at first sight and especially the lead guitar tunes are well-effected and often above average and pretty unique like in ‘Force To Will‘ which is the best song for me on this second output. Anyway the album is quite diverting and the overall songwriting is surely enjoyable for Thrash lunatics but for me it is lacking of an own identity over the nearly thirty-seven minutes running time. There are a few good ideas on it but the rest of the album is only on an average level, what does not mean it is bad. There is certainly potential in each song and also the involved musicians are pretty skilled so I guess there is still some space to evolve an own identity. Only the genre typical vocals are not my cup of tea, as I prefer a more aggressive variation in vocals like in DEW-SCENTED but surely the guy can sing. The production could also be a bit tighter but it is ok for a self-released album.
