We all know that Finland is not only the land of the thousand lakes (5 bucks for the phrases fine collector!). Suomi is either well known for a lot of sick and extreme bands. And it doesn’t seem that there’s an end in sight. The newest example for fine extreme stuff comes from the town of Joensuu in Northern Karelia. OBDUKTIO are deeply rooted in the old school of Crust Punk, bands like DISCHARGE or G.B.H. come to mind, and of course their great country mates of RIISTETYT. This base is spiced with some old school Black Metal aggression and vocals that range from screaming to blackened. And sometimes the quite chaotic song structures remind a little bit of the English legend DISORDER. Thus it’s no wonder that the first ten songs of this musical massacre run for not even 19 short but entertaining minutes. But with cool tunes like ‘Riivattu Vittusaatana’, the rad ‘Mafia’ or ‘Pulmapäivä’, the old saying “Short but sweet” somehow regains a new meaning. The first real break from the high speed inferno is the second to the last song. ‘Käsissämme’ is a nearly seven minutes long, pretty weird and quite haywire Doom Punk tune, reminding a little bit of the slowest, gluey tunes of BLACK FLAG or the sickest moments of early CORROSION OF CONFORMITY. The final ‘Eliittikumppani’ sees OBDUKTIO back in their usual up tempo, which is even a little comforting. If you’re into some good old Punk and Hardcore stuff with a sense of chaos, you won’t do wrong to check OBDUKTIO at: obduktio.bandcamp.com or www.facebook.com/obduktio.
