OVERMARS
Born Again

Tales from France are told in black. Or should I say "colorless" for that would describe the nihility of OVERMARS second album much better. "Born Again" – from pain? To die again? Yeah, dark, slow, gloomy, sinister, crushing and experimentally hypnotizing are all adjecitves that suit well to this monstrous band. Thank God that they only managed to record one song, more would have been too much for the typical Metal listener… in a positive sense that is. Try to imagine the epic songbeasts NEUROSIS used to unleash during their "Through Silver In Blood" period, mixed with the joylessness of bands like ESOTERIC with a dose of uncomprimising soundscapes of SUNNO))) and the despair of very old MY DYING BRIDE and you may come close. Just listen to the singer (two or three male, one female) who just puke all that is nice munched to a slimy something in front of you feet, you slip on it and fall on your back where you are left helpless on the ground, shaking from frost and fear. Full of pain! Great, just great. Impressingly how they manage to put so many ideas, influences and feelings into one song without ever loosing the red line or getting too monotonous. This release is gripping from start to finish! OVERMARS is nothing for the weak hearted or for those who seek hope in music. Darkness does not suit everyone – this band made their suits out of it! www.destroyalldreamers.org, www.myspace.com/overmars
