PARASIT
A Proud Tradition Of Stupidity
(Cyclone Empire Records)
32:33min

A simple look at the cover of PARASITs second album already gives the unsuspecting listener a hint on what to expect from “A Proud Tradition Of Stupidity”. The lettering that’s edging the picture, the style of the font, the black and white aesthetics… All this screams “Crust!” and “D-Beat!” in loud words! And the Swedes give you everything you expect! As if that alone wouldn’t satisfy me completely, PARASIT kick the asses of the establishment in a painful way. Dirty fuckin’ D-Beat with anger, rage and power. Every riff, every word spat out shows that these guys are really pissed off. Of course the spirit of their country mates like early DISFEAR, DRÅP or WOLFBRIGADE and WOLFPACK is present here all over the place. But first of all, these are the finest references a band like PARASIT might get. And second, they are rude and raw enough to keep the high level of the bands mentioned. The production is dirty, yet well balanced and extremely powerful. In addition, we find some really punkish moments as well, like in ‘The Market Sets’ or ‘Till Sista Kugg’. Thus, there’s a fine link to the old forefathers genre DISCHARGE and their all time classic “Hear Nothing, See Nothing, Say Nothing”. You see, there is more than one reason to get this album. To be exact, there are 16 reasons, since any song on “A Proud Tradition Of Stupidity” is fuckin’ worth getting the album.
