PIGSTY
Pig Blood

PIGSTY, the Czech Death / Grind masters return with their new 2020 release on the legendary Bizarre Leprous Productions. “Pig Blood” is operatic, sample filled Death / Grind that just aims to melt your face. The vocals are spectacular, deep, in your face and relentless. The accompanying music is just as good. The guitars are low, chuggy and the drumming is just adequate. However, the band manages to build an entire wall of sound in your direction for the purposes of mass destruction of all your senses. This is a heavy record no doubt about it. There’s nothing new with what’s been offered here, just the established traditional Death / Grind. Long term PIGSTY fans will absolutely dig this record. I’m positive the new fans wouldn’t mind this at all. The production is slightly muddy, the synth pieces add to the overall charm. Parts of the album feel like a horror movie soundtrack and that’s good! The album is just about 27 minutes long and is perfect length wise. The pick of the album for me would be ‘Merigiddo Vs Armageddon’, everything is on spot on this track. Vocals, guitars, the little cloud of synth that just adds in a quick layer to the sound. I really like it. We need to talk about the last track on the record titled ‘Hail Universe Pigs’ which is clearly a soundtrack to Ming The Merciless! Operatic vocals, killer synth backgrounds and deep growls are all brought together onto a single platform. Samples are thrown in for effect but that’s not necessarily needed in my opinion. This is the longest track on the record clocking just under 7 minutes and is perhaps the best representation of the band in 2020. Utterly enjoyable. This isn’t groundbreaking Death / Grind, however this certainly is enjoyable music from the Czech duo.
